My name is Patrick McGuigan and I'm a self-confessed curd nerd. 

I'm also a freelance food and drink journalist, who writes for Harrods Magazine, ShortList, Restaurant and Fine Food Digest, among others. 

The two go together quite well. 

I've been lucky enough to meet, interview and make cheese with some of the UK's best cheesemakers, from Montgomery's and Cropwell Bishop to Kappacasein and Golden Cross.

I've also attended the School of Artisan Food's two-day Introduction to Cheesemaking course and spent time at La Cave a Fromage learning the pungent arts of cheese mongering.

I'm a regular judge at the World Cheese Awards and have travelled around the country visiting top cheese shops as
the head judge of the Cheese Counter of the Year and Cheesemonger of the Year competitions, organised by
the Guild of Fine Food. 


I host regular cheese tastings, talks and tours for the
public, from small groups up to large corporate events.
